Choose the style of baby bump photos from studio, in home or outdoor location. Since 1989 I have pretty much done them all! The modern maternity portrait didn’t really gain acceptance and popularity until 1991. It was August that year when Demi Moore graced the cover of Vanity Fair in all of her wonderful glowing beauty. Since then the pregnancy/ baby bump photos has become a whole genre on its own.
I always include a full Design Meeting with any woman thinking about having baby bump photos done. I ask a multitude of questions in order to really get an understanding of what you want. It’s not surprising that many women don’t really know. It’s part of what you pay me for – to guide you through the process. For me that starts with the finished product! I know that may sound weird or backwards but it’s not. When I can help you envision a finished portrait it makes it easier for you to take the steps to get there. Think of it like a vacation – you have to decide where you’re going in order to figure out how to get there!
Obviously I’m not a woman but I am a father. More importantly, I have photographed close to 100 baby bump photos since my first in the spring of 1989. Since each pregnancy is different you can’t go back and have a redo. You want to be certain you’re going to get the results you imagine. Posing, body dynamics and lighting are so important in order to show off the beauty and roundness in your baby bump photos.
