Really slept in this mornings – until 0800! I guess riding in all of that rain yesterday was more tiring than I realized. It was still cool when I left Vancouver, Wa. but it continually got warmed as the day moved along. Only a short 3 hour ride today up to Tukwila and Seattle. Stopped in. Hudson’s Designer Portraits to see Josh for a few minutes and surprise – Melissa and the twins (Reese and Wyatt) were there too. It was great to meet her finally! They had a busy day planned but Josh said Bruce had a High School Senior session later and I could assist if I wanted and I truly did!
So I killed the afternoon by going into downtown Seattle to the famous Pike’s Peak Market. It is a great place just for the experience – singing vendors, tossing of whole fish, flowers, neon signs, incredible smells, scores of people, crafts, art, food, food, food and , oh yeah – the gum wall!
Back to Tukwila for the Senior session and it was with this beautiful, friendly, 17 year old, named Taylor. She loved my Harley jacket and asked if she could wear it in some of her portraits! So I may be leaving Washington state on Sunday but the legend lives on 🙂 It was great just watching Bruce Hudson working. He was one of the first American photographers I ever saw at a workshop many years ago and have gotten to know him through several more seminars and workshops since. Josh is his son and he and Ashley have gotten to know each other a bit in the past few years. Anyway, it was a fun evening with Bruce, Taylor and her Mom -going to three locations for her Senior Portraits she will have to remember this very special age and time in her life. Taylor is an awesome soccer player on her school varsity team but we ran out of daylight tonight so Bruce will do that on another day. In most of the US this is a very much “in demand” type of portraiture which I have been working on for our area.
Bruce then took myself, Josh, Melissa, Nat (J&M’s 9 year old daughter), Reese and Wyatt out to their favorite Italian restaurant for supper. So all in all an excellent day on the west coast. Tomorrow however, promises to be the best one yet as my wonderful wife arrives at noon:)
We have about a 6-7 hour ride to our motel room right next to the ferry terminal from where we leave for Victoria, BC on Sunday morning.
