A double dose day of sunshine – both the sun and my wife were here with me! The sun arrived first and since I had the morning to kill I found a wash bay and gave the Harley a good cleaning. Between that and a Starbucks visit for “breakfast” my morning was quickly over. Getting to SeaTac airport didn’t take long but finding a parking spot did! Pam’s flight was on time and once I found the right part of the airport we reunited. We unpacked her carry-on bag and loaded the trunk – which was a tight fit – and we hit the road. We did run into a little Memorial Day Weekend traffic on the I-5 and for about 15 minutes it was almost bumper to bumper just south of Tacoma.
After that though it was clear motoring! Between her long hours of travel, the heat of the sun and the fresh air it wasn’t long before Pam found herself nodding off occasionally. A quick stop for lunch and up the 101 we went and arrived at our Motel in Port Angeles around 5:30 pm.
After unloading the bike so we could repack it for the two of us we walked up the road to a pub for a beer and some supper. Outside of the pub was the coolest custom made chopper-trike I have ever seen. It had seats for driver and passenger, two HUGE speakers, ape hangers and a suicide-type shifter! The driver sat only about 12 inches off the ground. Not something I would ever want for me but very cool!
Once Pam two beer kicked in she was a goner! Took her about 15 seconds to fall asleep once her head hit the pillow. Tomorrow is an early start as we have to be at the terminal by 0715 to check in for our ferry reservations for the first crossing at 0815. It is only a 90-100 minutes trip over to Victoria, BC where we plan to walk around Victoria for the day and then head just out of town to visit step-brother, Paul and the family for the evening. Hoping the weather forecast for Monday improves as we plan on heading up to Tofino.
