Day 27 – St. Louis!

This was a short day mileage-wise but a full day never the less. We left the motel at 0700 and although it was a cool 45 degrees F(7 C) it didn’t take long to warm up. It was a very enjoyable ride and we arrived in St. Louis at 2 pm and were greeted by 80 degree temps!! Wasn’t much scenery to enjoy along the way but it was all nice and green with lots of dirt fields thrown in. But these fields had lots of sprouting plants emerging  and some of the corn fields were about 8 inches high already.

Once we checked into our motel room we went out to visit a few Harley dealerships and then into a little bar with a patio to sit and enjoy the sun, a beverage and the now 87 degree temps. After that we headed out to find a location to photograph the Gateway Arch at sunset. This proved to be more difficult than expected due to many off-ramp exits being so close together and some road construction which had turned regular streets into one way nightmares. Eventually we found our location bit it was a little later than I wanted. On top of that the head of my tripod has gone missing so I had to hand-hold – so much for doing some HDR work later. The sunset wasn’t very good anyways so we’ll try again tomorrow.
