Day 35 – A day in Daytona Beach

Today was our first full day in Daytona Beach and we started off by sleeping in until 7:30. We went for a walk down the beach and had some breakfast. We then jumped back on the Harley and headed over to Daytona State College, where my course will be for the next 5 days. We were about a mile away when we could tell that the thunder storm clouds we were watching were right over the college. So now that knew the route we decided to turn right, just as a few raindrops reached us, and go out to the huge Harley Davidson dealership beside the I-95 in Orton Beach. The place is 2 floors plus another building of related Harley detailers and a motel! There is also a J&P Cycles warehouse store right next door. This location is a motorcyclist’s dream come true!

After we finished drooling here we went back to our hotel and hit the pool area for some sun, drinks and a cigar. After a couple of hours it was time to go for a swim in the ocean. The water was amazingly warm at 77 F. The waves were just a great size for a little body surfing and the water was salty enough that it actually floated my slim body (I sink like a stone in fresh water). Pam eventually had to practically drag me out so we could go for supper.

The next few days I will be in class so no blog posts until probably Thursday night when we will be back on the road headed home.
