We we at the Harley dealership before 0800 and they got at it right away. On the road by 1100 going south to Lynchburg. We chose the back road route to avoid a couple of mega people events but it was a great ride! The temperature got close to 90 today ( maybe even more)!! Glorious!!
The Jack Daniels distillery tour was great – as we remembered – and it was really hot in the Still Room. I just love the smell of the mash cooking 🙂 it is FREE every day and a great experience. The lemonade they serve after is yummmmmmmy ! Today on the bottling line they were doing the Single Barrel Jack which is my favorite and very smooth. It is great either on the rocks or straight up. You definitely don’t want to ruin the Single Barrel with any mix.
After the tour we went into Lynchburg and had lunch at the BBQ cafe and the a little window shopping in the old hardware store ( now a Jack commodity only store!) Then we rode towards Knoxville taking some great back roads for the first few hours and then the I40 for the last hour so we could get here by dark. Tomorrow we ride east over the Smokey Mountains into North Carolina as we head to the Outer Banks. Weather forecast is promising so we hope for another great day.
