These are tough times we are in, especially our Healthcare Workers and others on the front lines. We have no choice but to deal with the Covid-19 Pandemic. And here in Nova Scotia it’s been made so much worse with the tragedy from last weekend. Profound sadness fills us and yet we must continue on. I have shut my business down and have been staying home since mid-March. As a Portrait Artist there’s not really much else I can do to help right now. But later on, when the restrictions are eased, then maybe, just maybe . . .

If this Covid-19 Pandemic, and the recent local events have us feeling anything, it’s the importance of family. Because we are physically separated more than ever before we feel the loss of closeness. Virtual contact is just not the same. I’ve always been a “hugger”. It’s just a part of who I am. Many of you are like me in that way. This is hard on us. Also, I’ve never been one who is content to just sit around and relax or chill. At least not for very long. I’ve been self-employed for almost 27 years now and not being able to create emotional, story-telling portraits for people hurts. And I’ve always tried to be a helper. I’ve been a Rotarian for about 17 years. I’ve been a coach. Been a mentor too. And in those 27+ business years I’ve donated over $50,000 in goods, services and money to charity.
