Being a Lifestyle Photographer means I get to travel all over Atlantic Canada
I love people and I love travel so being a Lifestyle Photographer really fits my personality. Every family has a story. It’s my job to tell that story, usually in a single image. Sometimes my clients want a series of images or a collage which makes it a little easier.
In this image we have a family who love the outdoors. As a more mature family they find it difficult to get everyone together to go camping like when the kids are little. So they built this stone campfire pit in their backyard. Well if you’re going to have a campfire you’re not going to just sit there. You’re going to do something. Being a Lifestyle Photographer, we had discussed this during the Design Meeting and so we had the marshmallows on hand. Creating a portrait around a campfire is always tricky. You need it dark enough that the fire shows but not so dark you can’t see everyone. This was taken just about sunset and I added a little extra light to lessen the contrast.
As a Lifestyle Photographer I often get commissioned for portraits in PEI, Cape Breton or Newfoundland. Now you might think the extra cost involved might be prohibitive. However, my other passion is long distance motorcycling. And my wife loves it too! So often I can combine the love riding with my passion for working on location with a minimal added expense for my clients. In fact even if the location isn’t that far away you’ll more than likely see me arriving on my trusty Harley. Most of my travelling from mid-April to mid November is on two wheels and many of my clients are not sure I own a car!
