Rain . . . more Rain . . . Hard Rain . . . Harder Rain . . . Hard Rain with gale force gusts . . . then FOG – Newfoundland thick FOG!! For a while I thought I was driving through the Wreckhouse! I hear the mountains (hills really) of Maryland and West Virginia are quite nice in the spring – I wouldn’t know because I couldn’t see. AND I was holding on the the handlebars so tight and concentrating so much I would almost give my left arm (because it hurts the most) for a masseus or a masseur right now. But I do remember crossing the Mason-Dixon Line at 0819 this morning, officially putting me in “tha South” 🙂
I stopped for lunch in Charleston, W.Va. (at my favourite southern restaurant – Cracker Barrel) and when I came out there was the SUN! The closer I got to Nicholasville the warmer – bordering on hot- it got! But that heat could cause problems tonite as they are predicting some strong thunderstorms. But right now it is a nice evening as I type this blog and enjoy an amazing petite robusto on the veranda of the B&B I’m at. Our friend, Karen, runs a great B&B so if you’re ever headed this way I’ll hook you up – we always stay here! Karen and I went to Sonny’s – a local BBQ joint – for supper and conversation. So despite the RAIN it was an awesome day since I had catfish for lunch and ribs for supper – my 2 staple foods when I’m in the south. It’s getting dark now but the birds are still singing. All the leaves are out and the flowering trees are in full bloom and it is gorgeous.
Today’s wildlife count was a measly 2 deer and 1 turkey.
