We were up and on the way to breakfast at Denny’s by 0730. Then we took off for Grant’s Farm to beat the masses. Grant’s Farm was owned by the family of President Ulysses S. Grant and now by the Anheuser-Busch corporation. There is also a national historical site and museum there now. There are also some of the Budweiser Clydesdales housed there.
Next we visited the Anheuser-Busch brewery and took the free tour, which was quite interesting, and we even had lunch at the restaurant and beer garden. The burgers there were awesome! This is a very neat facility and extremely well kept and very clean for a working facility – cleaner than most kitchens! Next we went to the very understated International Photography Hall of Fame and went through the 2 exhibits currently active.
Our final stop of the day was down at the Gateway Arch Park. It is a very unique structure that you can actually ride up to the top of ! However, it is a very confined space and tiny elevator and I am just a “little” claustrophobic and Pam doesn’t like heights so we passed on getting in the long line-up for that!We did take the one hour riverboat cruise which was neat and quite interesting as the tour operator gave us some history and interesting facts about St. Louis.
