Day 23 – back in Canada!

posted in: Roadtrip | 1

Left Port Angeles this morning at 0815 as scheduled and left the gray skies in the USA! – at least temporarily. Sun was shining on beautiful Victoria, BC most of the day which allowed Pam and I to walk the streets and take in this gorgeous city. Being Sunday the outdoor market full of local independent vendors was in full swing. From chocolate covered fruits to veggies to clothes, art and much much more it was great to see and wander through.
The Empress Hotel was in all its splendor and they were setting up for tonight’s gala hosted by David Foster and the provincial government building is a beautiful sight. Once we were done sight-seeing we had lunch at the Irish Times Pub and I had the best fish and chips I have ever eaten! Now being a good Newf – I have eaten more than my fair share of f&c so that is saying a lot!
We then walked around some more – as neither of us remembered where we had parked the bike :o( But my innate sense of direction served us well and I soon honed right in the needed location. We then toured around the edge of the peninsula to see the views and some of the homes as well as new hotels and condos being built or refurbished. Victoria really is a wonderful city to see and visit.
Now it was time for family. My wonderful step-brother Paul, wife Michelle and super cute daughters, Calleigh and Chloe live in Langford, just outside of Victoria, and we had been invited for the evening. Paul cooked a great supper of BBQ pork chops, Caesar salad, corn on the cob with strawberry shortcake for dessert! Mmmmmmm good! We chatted for a while, put the kiddies to bed, some more conversation then it was 10 pm bedtime for all of us adults. Michelle especially has to be up and out the door by 530. It was a great day and hoping for good weather tomorrow as we hit the road for a travel and sight seeing day!
