Day 24 – the start of the Canadian Rockies

Darn rain. Had planned to make the ride up to Tofino and Euclulet but it was raining a little when we left Victoria and the radar showed more rain coming into Tofino and riding that twisty road in the rain did not appeal to either of us. So we went to the ferry terminal in Nanaimo instead and headed northeast across BC. Only hit a little bit of moisture and decided to take the old TCH up to Kamloops instead of the new highway. Took us MUCH longer but it was a nice ride. It followed the river most of the way through the valley which made for some nice scenery from foothills to desert to baby mountains as the Rockies began for us.

We rolled thru the 60,000 km mark on the Harley and stopped at that exact time to create a portrait of us both (with the bike of course!) Once we arrived in Kamloops it was almost 6 pm so we decided to call it a day and found a motel to crash at. Then we walked a km up the road to Boston Pizza and enjoyed a couple of beers and some supper. Hoping the forecast for the mountains tomorrow is not quite accurate as they are calling for some rain and hail. I am really hoping to get a few cool images of the mountains as we pass thru. Probably spending tomorrow night in Banff area.
