It’s like a can of tomato soup. Many different brands but it’s still tomato soup. It’s still in a can. So when it’s basically the same thing how do you choose? Since you can’t taste it until after you buy it and open the can there is only one way to choose – PRICE. Who wouldn’t buy the least expensive if it appeared to be the same?? But what if all that soup was in a clear bottle? So you could see it’s colour. And it’s consistency. If you could see an obvious difference wouldn’t that be better for you? Wouldn’t you end up with something that fits your needs and desires?
As Family Photographers Truro our painted portraits are very different.
They look different. They feel different. Together we spend as much time (or more) planning and designing your portrait as we do capturing it. We do this so we know what you want – we’re not guessing. We know where it’s going to be displayed so it is composed and sized for that area. (Have you ever tried to put horizontal wall art at the end of a normal hallway? It would have to be pretty small to fit and you would lose all the impact and detail. But putting a well composed vertical wall hanging in that same spot – now that makes sense.
Our photographic paintings are all painted by hand. Not a push-button effect by a piece of software. As family photographers Truro for over 25 years we have to deliver quality. We use the best we can find. Our artists, our canvas company and our framer are the best we can source. Because YOU deserve it. And because we do not ever want to have to apologize for poor quality.
Most people who choose a photographic painting also select a frame – but that is a choice. You can also order a frameless wrapped canvas instead. BUT, and this is a BIG but – the canvas we are now using is NOT your typical inkjet canvas. It is an archival “stripped’ canvas made by Guild Canvas in Yakima, Washington. With a standard digital canvas you have a specially coated, thin, canvas like material. It has to be relatively thin. Because it has to go through the inkjet printer that sprays the ink onto this material. A Guild Canvas is actually a high quality RC photographic print. This print is then stripped of the backing. Then with an archival adhesive, heat and pressure it is bonded to 100% real cotton canvas – think sail canvas!!. Check out this short video that shows these many steps. We are one of only a handful of Canadian portraitists using the high quality Guild Canvas.
